Ammonia Refrigeration Foundation Seeks Applicants for Engineering Scholarships

UPDATE: Given the disruptions caused by COVID-19, ARF is extending the application deadline for the Founder Scholarship Applications to June 30, 2020.

The Ammonia Refrigeration Foundation (ARF), a U.S. nonprofit dedicated to promoting the natural refrigeration industry, is accepting applications from college juniors for its annual Founders Engineering Scholarships.

The scholarships are for college students exhibiting “exceptional character and interest in pursuing an engineering, or related technical degree, leading to a career in the refrigeration field,” according to ARF. The deadline to apply has been extended from May 31 to June 30, 2020.

Each scholarship consists of US$4,000 per year, during the student’s junior and senior year.  However, if a student participates in IIAR’s Annual Natural Refrigeration Conference & Expo in the spring of his or her junior year, the stipend is increased to US$9,000 for the senior year. The scholarship also provides funds for registration, lodging and travel to the IIAR Conference. In 2019, six scholarships were awarded.

Candidates must attend a four-year accredited engineering college and be pursuing a course focusing on thermal fluid science, or related disciplines. They must have completed 45 semester credit hours at the time of application and have a GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
