The International Institute of Refrigeration has launched the call for papers for their congress in August 2011 in Prague. Refrigeration experts from industry and academia will discuss issues around “Refrigeration for a sustainable development”.

Only organised every 4 years, the IIR International Congress of Refrigeration is a milestone event in the world of refrigeration, bringing together industrial and academic stakeholders from all over the world. The last Congress held in 2007 in Beijing assembled 1,308 participants from 55 countries, presenting 876 papers.

The 2011 edition will present latest research data in the fields of
  • Thermodynamics and transfer processes
  • Refrigeration equipment
  • Cryophysics, cryoengineering, liquefaction and separation of gases
  • Cryobiology, cryomedicine
  • Food science and engineering
  • Refrigerated storage and transport
  • Air conditioning, heat pumps and energy recovery
Technical visits are planned at a number of companies and institutions (Ingersoll Rand, JDK, Food Research Institute Prague, Chart Industries, Tokamak COMPASS, Emerson Climate Technologies, C.I.C. Jan Hrebec, Atrea, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Tissue Bank of the University Hospital) and a workshop will present studies and latest findings of the ICE-E (Improving Cold storage Equipment in Europe) project, that was set up to help cold store operators to reduce energy consumption and reduce the use of greenhouse gasses.

Call for papers

Submitted papers are expected to present original research in the scope of the congress - a complete list of themes will be for download on the congress website, which also provides guidelines for authors and other key information. Abstracts and papers will be reviewed by at least two experts in the field.

The official call for abstracts will be launched on 17 September 2010, 5 November 2010 being the abstract submission deadline and 18 February 2010 the full paper submission deadline. Registration will also open on 17 September 2010.

Submit a paper and get published

The Editors of the International Journal of Refrigeration (IJR) have offered to publish updated versions of selected papers presented at the Congress in their journal. The papers will be subject to a peer review process. The candidates will be identified during the Congress review process, and recommended to the IJR editors.
