Brian Dobbs: Natural refrigerant systems vs. HFC system. Performance comparison of CO2/NH3 vs. R507 in an industrial refrigerated warehouse

Brian Dobbs, VaCom Technologies, compares an exiting CO₂/NH₃ system developed for an industrial refrigerated warehouse with a theoretical conventional system using R507. His methodology entails measuring in real-time the performance of the cascade system and then using the same refrigeration loads in order to perform an energy usage and efficiency analysis via web-accessible analysis tools. Dobbs presents his findings, which support the use of the cascade system.
