ALDI US, Henningsen, Source, Southern California Edison, Colmac Coil and Lara given Accelerate America awards

Six Accelerate America awards – which recognize achievements in driving adoption of natural refrigerants in North America – were presented today at the ATMOsphere America 2018 conference, held in Long Beach, Calif.

The winners are:

• Best in Sector/Food Retail: ALDI US, for installing transcritical CO₂ systems in more than 100 stores, with more installations on the way.
• Best in Sector/Industrial: Henningsen Cold Storage, for its innovative low-charge ammonia designs and for investing in its first transcritical CO₂
• Best Contractor: Source Refrigeration (a division of CoolSys), for its leading role in promoting the use of natural refrigerants in the food retail sector.
• Best Utility: Southern California Edison, for proactively assessing and incentivizing natural refrigerant systems.
• Innovation of the Year: Colmac Coil Manufacturing, for developing a low-charge DX evaporator that has been widely adopted in the industrial refrigeration industry.
• Person of the Year: California State Senator Ricardo Lara, for crafting legislation to reduce HFC emissions and provide incentives for natural refrigerant systems.

Lara’s award was presented Tuesday prior to his keynote address at the conference. The other five awards were presented at a ceremony Wednesday at Parkers’ Lighthouse Restaurant in Long Beach, Calif.
