The manufacturer will be one of seven premium exhibitors at the January trade show.

Evapco will be one of seven premium exhibitors among over 1,400 exhibiting companies at the International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration (AHR) Expo, to be held January 22-24 in Chicago.

The Taneytown, Md.-based manufacturer of heat exchangers, cooling towers and closed-circuit coolers for industrial and commercial applications, has been a leader in the development of low-charge ammonia packaged units. Including penthouse units and chillers.

In April 2016, Western Gateway Storage, an Ogden, Utah-based cold storage facility, was the first U.S. site to install an Evapcold low-charge ammonia system with two rooftop units.

The units each contain 290 lbs of ammonia and provide 70 TR (4.1 lbs/TR) of cooling, for a total of 140 TR.

Turner Dairy – a member of Prairie Farms – is also currently installing five of Evapco’s low-charge packaged ammonia units at a plant in Memphis, Tenn., as part of an expansion and remodeling project. The units Evapco provided include two 35°F penthouse coolers (200 TR total) and two process cooling chillers (260 TR total); the latter uses secondary glycol to cool ingredient tanks and pasteurizers.

One penthouse has been running since July 2017 and the other will be installed in January 2018. In total, the total ammonia charge for the plant will be 1,226 lbs (1.7 lbs/TR) with the cooling capacity being 720 TR.

At the AHR Expo, Evapco will be presenting its technologies at booth 1337.
