Test laboratory opens for CO2, ammonia

German component manufacturer Güntner has opened a measurement laboratory at its headquarters in Fürstenfeldbruck near Munich, Germany.

German component manufacturer Güntner opened a measurement laboratory testing CO₂ and NH₃ at its headquarters in Fürstenfeldbruck near Munich, Germany last month.

The testing facility is used to measure the volume of CO₂ and NH₃ in Güntner products. The testing room chamber is closely based on standard requirements and is set to provide reliable capacity measurements for a wide range of thermal boundary conditions.

Peter Roth head of Güntner's test department added, “Natural refrigerants are a growing and sustainable market. Therefore, we are very proud to have an in-house measurement facility now that allows us to increase our knowledge regarding the exact determination of capacities and application-related issues".

The laboratory is also set up for performing frosting and defrosting tests.

The measurements will be carried out mainly on CO₂ gas coolers and condensers as well as CO₂ and NH₃ evaporators.

Next year, details on the design and dimensioning of the air-measuring section will be determined.

For air measuring, the test item is connected, via an opening of 2 x 2m at the ceiling, to a duct system installed above the chamber.

The air volume can reach a maximum of 30,000 m3/h. From 2018 onwards, it will also be possible to measure the sound.
