German component manufacturer Güntner has opened a measurement laboratory at its headquarters in Fürstenfeldbruck near Munich, Germany.

German component manufacturer Güntner opened a measurement laboratory testing CO2 and NH3 at its headquarters in Fürstenfeldbruck near Munich, Germany last month.

The testing facility is used to measure the volume of CO2 and NH3 in Güntner products. The testing room chamber is closely based on standard requirements and is set to provide reliable capacity measurements for a wide range of thermal boundary conditions.

Peter Roth head of Güntner's test department added, “Natural refrigerants are a growing and sustainable market. Therefore, we are very proud to have an in-house measurement facility now that allows us to increase our knowledge regarding the exact determination of capacities and application-related issues".

The laboratory is also set up for performing frosting and defrosting tests.

The measurements will be carried out mainly on CO2 gas coolers and condensers as well as CO2 and NH3 evaporators.

This test facility will provide us with substantial benefits for many years.

Next year, details on the design and dimensioning of the air-measuring section will be determined.

For air measuring, the test item is connected, via an opening of 2 x 2m at the ceiling, to a duct system installed above the chamber.

The air volume can reach a maximum of 30,000 m3/h. From 2018 onwards, it will also be possible to measure the sound.

"This test facility will provide us with substantial benefits for many years”, Roth believes.
