China Refrigeration 2015: market for CO2 and NH3 in industrial refrigeration shows clear progress&nbsp;

On 8 - 10 April China Refrigeration 2015, one of the largest HVAC&R tradeshows took place in Shanghai, at the New International Expo Centre. With over 1000 companies exhibiting, R744.com and ammonia21.com were on site to report on the latest technology and market developments for CO₂ and NH_3.

Compared to 2014, natural refrigerants for industrial solutions were more visible at China Refrigeration 2015 pointing towards an exciting year ahead for CO₂ and ammonia.

At Danfoss’s booth entitled “Engineering Tomorrow” the latest control solutions for industrial refrigeration were showcased, including the ICF 15-4 valve station, suitable for both CO₂ and ammonia, the STC stop valve, the EKE 347 liquid level controller for low/high pressure liquid level control and featuring an alarm function, the DSV double stop valve that provides perfect closing through a valve cone even with minimum torque, and the GD gas detector, applicable to NH₃, CO₂ and hydrocarbons, and featuring an interchangeable pre-calibrated board, liner analog outputs, current (mA)/voltage (V) proportional to gas concentration.

Parker, a company that has been manufacturing and distributing industrial refrigeration control valves for over 90 years, showcased control solutions applicable to various refrigerants include CO₂ in industrial refrigeration.

Bitzer displayed the latest OSKA95103 open drive screw compressor for NH₃ applications, with a displacement up to 1015 m3/h, infinite capacity control, automatic V-adaptation and enhanced operation monitoring. Also on show was the 4CTC-30K semi-hermetic reciprocating compressor for transcritical CO₂, for high temperature and medium temperature applications.

At the GEA Refrigeration Technologies booth trade fair visitors could see the HGX12e/60-4 S CO₂ compressor, rewarded with the title of ‘Innovation Product for China Refrigeration 2015’. The compressor has progressively adjustable speed control by means of an EFC (Electronic Frequency Control. Alongside the 12e model was the HGX46/280-4 S CO₂ T, semi-hermetic six-cylinder reciprocating compressor with drive motor, single-section compressor housing, and hermetically integrated electric motor.

Güntner showcased their CO₂ and ammonia condenser and heat exchanger solutions for industrial refrigeration and air conditioning, including the GVH Condenser Series and the thermolineVario plate heat exchanger, which has a capacity of 20 – 2,000 kW. With a compact design, the heat exchanger is can be individually configured for different refrigerants and applications.

Yantai Moon featured their CO₂ units including a subcritical CO₂ parallel compressor and screw compressor unit. The company’s CO₂/NH₃ refrigeration systems have been widely used in industrial refrigeration systems throughout China, with more than 35 projects implemented already.

Fort the first time this year the Bingshan Group showed off their JZLGC11E11 CO2 unit, which features inverter technology and is applicable for CO₂or NH₃ industrial refrigeration plants.

Snowman had a dedicated booth for natural refrigerant systems and components. On show as an NH₃/CO₂ secondary refrigeration package using SRM screw compressor and SVPWM inverter technology. For compressors, Snowman demonstrated their ammonia 6.3 MPa high pressure screw compressor, ammonia semi-enclosed two-stage screw compressor with inverter, SRH-18M open-type high pressure screw compressor for CO₂/NH₃ cascade low temperature refrigeration and their SRC-S-353LOS R290 semi-hermetic screw compressor for R290.
