Receive international recognition for your ammonia refrigeration achievement

The Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) is accepting nominations for J&E Hall Gold Medal, an internationally respected award that recognises the most noteworthy practical contributions to the science of refrigeration and which has often been awarded to individuals in recognition of their research on natural refrigerants. Send a nomination by 15 October 2012.

The IOR promotes achievement and innovation through a number of annual awards, including the J&E Hall Gold Medal that is awarded to individuals or teams with recent outstanding achievements in one or more of the following areas:
  • Practical applications of innovative designs
  • Projects which have made an original contribution to the field
  • Systems which demonstrate substantial potential and evidence that they will be completed successfully
  • Outstanding and significant work in a new or unusual area

Previous winners have contributed to research on natural refrigerants

The 2011 J&E Hall Gold Medal was awarded to Prof. Pega Hrnjak for his work on the practical application of innovation as the Director of their Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Centre at the University of Illinois and a private commercial research facility which focuses on thermal systems ranging from nano-technology to large industrial equipment. Prof. Hrnjak has greatly contributed to research on natural refrigerants.

In 2010, Donald Cleland won the award for his achievements in technology transfer related to food refrigeration and efficiency research but also work on hydrocarbons in farm milk cooling vats and the development of industrial heat pumps using carbon dioxide.

In 2009, Jürgen Suess was presented with the award in recognition of his achievements in CO2 compressor development and application in light commercial refrigeration.

Send a nomination by 15 October 2012

The award is international and nominations will be accepted from all parts of the world until 15 October 2012.
