KHLim is planning a training workshop on natural refrigerants around the Gustav Lorentzen conference held from 25-27 June 2012 in Delft. The course contains both theoretical and practical trainings on the natural refrigerants NH3 and CO2.

KHLim i-NET, an auxiliary of the department Industrial Sciences and Technology (IWT) in the Catholic University College Limburg (KHLim) is planning a training course on natural refrigerants in the run-up to the Gustav Lorentzen conference in Delft. The course contains both theoretical and practical trainings on natural refrigerants, centering around the following topics:

NH3 and CO2 as a refrigerant
How to work safely with NH3 en CO2
Personal safety
NH3 and CO2 in a  log p/h diagram
CO2 subcritical and transcritical
Cascade-unit NH3 /CO2

Core issues to be discussed are:

Make components pressure free
Filling the installation with NH3 and CO2
Recover the NH3 and CO2 from an installation
Filling the installation with oil
Recover the oil from an installation

KHLim plans to offer the 3 days course on 20-23 June 2012 in Belgium, and would then accompany the participants to the conference in Delft. After the conference, the course can be continued on 28-30 in Brussels.

Gustav Lorentzen biennial conference

The conference is named in honour of Norwegian Scientist and engineer Gustav Lorentzen who rediscovered how CO2 could be used as a refrigerant in a simple and efficient way in heating and cooling applications.  The International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) is the organiser of the Gustav Lorentzen conference.

The IIR Gustav Lorentzen conferences usually attract a wide range of international specialists from science and industry sectors to discuss the latest research results and advances and facilitate an effective exchange of experience and knowledge. This year the conference on Natural Refrigerants will be organised together with the Royal Dutch Association of Refrigeration and the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands from 25-27 June 2012.
