Danfoss installed 178 ICF valve stations in a new ammonia refrigeration system in the first production base of Budweiser in the southwest area of China. This is calculated to have achieved more than 50% cost savings in valve installation and more than 30% in valve maintenance and operation costs for the beer factory.

The Budweiser Ziyang factory in China is now experiencing all the benefits of the Danfoss ICF Valve Station. Besides remarkable savings, the application of the ICF has effectively shortened the manufacturing time of the project, and kept the stability and easy maintenance of the refrigeration installation.

This was particularly important for this project since it had to be finalised within 4 months. As the first production base of Budweiser in the southwest area, the Ziyang factory in China Sichuan province is strategically significant for the Budweiser Group in the Chinese domestic market.

“The Danfoss ICF valve station requires a minimum of space compared to conventional valve trains, and that is exactly the reason why Budweiser Ziyang factory in China chose the Danfoss ICF Valve Stations,” says Anning Zhang, Danfoss Regional Sales Director.

Technical features and advantages of ICF Valve Station

Compared to the traditional design of the industrial valve components, the ICF valve stations avoid a lot of welds and since no disassembly is needed during welding, significant time-savings can be achieved.

With more than 15,000 ICF Valve Stations installed worldwide, Danfoss has proven savings in installation space and maintenance time, which increase the overall working efficiency. Technical specifications of the ICF include:
  • Maximum working pressure: 52 bar (750 psi)
  • Temperature range: –60/+120°C (–76/+248°F)
  • Suitable for ammonia and other the natural refrigerants including high pressure refrigerants
  • Thick Layer Passivation (TLP) surface treatment: ensures protection in demanding environments (e.g. around the beer tank where changing levels of humidity and air temperatures occur due to constant frost build up)
Cost savings of up to 50% with the ICF

According to the calculated data, the installed 178 Danfoss ICF Valve Stations can help Budweiser Ziyang factory to achieve more than 50% cost savings in valve installation and more than 30% cost savings in valve maintenance and operation costs.

Besides the installation of the ICF solution in the fermentation area, a series of Danfoss Industrial Refrigeration components have also been installed in the deoxidization, hops storage and icy water control systems. Based on the advanced technology and reliable production, Danfoss will help Budweiser to achieve significant savings in this project.
