NH3 heat transfer equipment with ultra low charge from Isotherm

The Texas-based company Isotherm is joining ammonia21.com to showcase its expertise in the design and fabrication of heat transfer equipment for industrial refrigeration applications. Its self-developed enhanced heat transfer tubes for natural refrigerants ensure that Isotherm’s ammonia chillers, condensers and other related heat exchangers are the most compact with very low refrigerant charge.

Isotherm was established in 1999 by Zahid Ayub, one of the pioneers in the field of Ammonia Enhanced Heat Transfer. Its forte lays in the production of advanced heat exchangers for optimum capacity. To create Isotherm’s unique advantage in compact products with ultra low charge, the company’s research and development team has developed enhanced heat transfer tubes for natural refrigerants such as ammonia, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons. Isotherm is now joining ammonia21.com as bronze partner to showcase its ammonia spray evaporators and other interesting ammonia projects and products.

World’s first Natural Fluids Refrigeration Center

The company has been actively involved in developing new generation heat exchangers using internal and external resources for research and development. It has special ties with leading academic and independent research laboratories worldwide. In fact it has partnered with GIK Institute in opening and running the world’s first center dedicated specifically to the field of natural fluids refrigeration, namely the ‘Natural Fluids Refrigeration Center’. This unique capability has resulted in several patents for evaporators, condensers, heat exchangers and refrigeration systems with a single goal to reduce refrigerant charge. Isotherm can confidently claim that its ammonia chillers, condensers and other related heat exchangers are the most compact of any other competitor in the world.

Isotherm’s product range

Besides the ammonia spray evaporators that will be featured and added to the ammonia21.com product database with all technical details, Isotherm is also producing pressure vessels, shell and tube evaporators and condensers especially geared towards high-pressure heat pump systems. The company also manufactures semi-welded plate and frame heat exchangers.

Quality and international standards

Isotherm holds ASME certification for "U" and "UM" stamps and the National Board Repair stamp "R". It is also qualified to produce CE marked equipment under the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and Det Norske Veritas (DNV). Designs per TEMA standard are also common. It has a strong engineering department with highly qualified and experienced engineers including two with doctorate degrees in mechanical engineering.
