The Swedish wholesaler plans to offer ammonia (NH3) units via SCM Ref in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Swedish HVAC&R wholesaler Beijer Ref is expanding its natural refrigerant portfolio for industrial refrigeration in Australia and New Zealand, introducing ammonia (NH3) units via SCM Ref Australia, its manufacturing division in the country.

The introduction of ammonia units is only one part of Beijer’s plans for the region. The company has acquired the assets of Australian company Industrial Refrigeration Components, a specialist in spare parts, refrigeration oils, valves, leak detection systems and more.

Beijer has also signed an exclusive corporation agreement with LU-VE for distribution of LU-VE products in Australia and New Zealand. LU-VE specializes in heat exchangers for refrigeration and air conditioning.

The investments and plans aim to strengthen Beijer’s ability to meet the needs of the local industrial refrigeration markets, with a complete portfolio of equipment and components.

“This is a very positive development,” said Per Bertland, CEO of Beijer Ref. “Our customers can now conveniently take part in Beijer Ref’s wide range of products, both when it comes to commercial, industrial as well as natural refrigerant solutions, while being supported by our Australian branch network.”

Beijer has also expanded its operations elsewhere in Oceania, with the acquisition of  Froid et Clim Distribution in New Caledonia. Froid et Clim manufactures equipment mainly for supermarket and central kitchens.

In 2020, Beijer acquired Australian company ACD Trade. ACD is a component distribution company with nine sales branches.
