Chinese manufacturer recognized at MOP29

Yantai Moon received the “Exemplary Project Award” for its work with NH3/CO2 systems at the 30th anniversary of the Montreal Protocol.

In a sign of China’s increasing leadership in the natural refrigerants arena, leading Chinese industrial refrigeration system manufacturer Yantai Moon was recognized for its pioneering work with NH3/CO 2 systems last month at the 29th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol (MOP29).

The event, held in Montreal, Canada, marked the 30th anniversary of the Montreal Protocol.

The company was awarded the “Exemplary Project Award” in conjunction with China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection-Foreign Economic Cooperation Office (MEP-FECO), which was given the "Policy and Implementation Leadership Award.”

In 2011, Yantai Moon took on the United Nations Development Programme’s initiative to replace R22, using NH3/CO2 cascade systems. To date, Yantai Moon has completed more than 200 NH3/CO 2 system installations in China.

The NH3/CO2 cascade systems were installed across a number of sectors including food processing, ice making, as well as cold storage and logistics.

At MOP29, Yantai Moon was recognized for leading the Chinese industry’s development in the direction of environmental protection and alternative technologies and for achieving a large-scale market in a short time.

"Yantai Moon will continue its commitment to environmental protection and innovation by increasing our efforts in implementing HCFC elimination retrofit projects," said the company in a statement.

The awards ceremony, organized by the Ozone Secretariat, was held in Montreal on 23 November, 2017.
