RV Cooling Tech recently launched its Compact Machinery Room (CMR) package for use with freezer tunnels.
Responding to customer demand for compact ‘plug & play’ solutions to complement freezer tunnels into which ammonia must be pumped, Spanish company RV Cooling Tech has developed the Compact Machinery Room (CMR) package.
The equipment integrates a screw compressor package, an open flash economiser, a high-pressure flash tank, a surge drum, and ammonia pumps. The CMR also has a PLC (programmable logic controller) and power panel to control the compressors and the ammonia pumps.
RV Cooling applied the same compact ammonia circuits to the CMR as to its low-charge Ecopack ammonia chillers.
“For us, reducing the required ammonia charge while maintaining the efficiency of an industrial solution is key."
- Mikel Diaz, head of the commercial department.
“We have a standard range of CMR products. However, we are continuously adapting the design of our machines. Our customers always expect to receive the optimal solution for their projects, so we have to keep updated with the latest innovations in the refrigeration sector,“ Diaz explained.
The company reports increased demand for CMR solutions with low capacities (from 100 kW to 500 kW) for direct ammonia applications. Nevertheless, most of the ammonia chillers that it manufactures are for capacities between 250 kW and 1,200 kW.
RV Cooling believes low-charge ammonia systems are becoming more and more popular. “For the last two years, we have been continuously asked by our customers to reduce the ammonia charge in our equipment to the minimum possible,“ said Diaz.
