The Searle NF range of GEA Heat Exchangers’ air-cooled condensers has been designed to use ammonia as the working fluid, offering a duty range of 11 kW to 1270 kW and featuring heat exchanger tubes and headers made of stainless steel. Furthermore, due to smaller tube diameters NF range condensers are lighter weight than standard ammonia condensers.
Ammonia (NH3) is experiencing strong interest among manufacturers and end users as a refrigerant due to its environmental credentials, such as no global warming potential and a zero ozone depletion factor. This renewed interest in NH3 encouraged GEA Heat Exchangers to introduce a new range of Searle condensers designed for use with ammonia. The new Searle NF range of air cooled condensers features a new design for lighter weight thanks to smaller tube diameters, lower costs and a smaller refrigerant charge.
Duty range up to 1270kW
The Searle NF air cooled condensers have a duty range of from 11kW to 1270kW, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. They are available with all RF options such as EC fan technology, adiabatic spray systems and the well-known GEA Searle controls package.
Stainless steel coil
In addition the new Searle NF air cooled condenser has a stainless steel coil tube and stainless steel header tube, specified because of its compatibility with ammonia.
Optimal heat exchanger efficiency
The Searle ‘T-Fin’ configuration includes 12mm tube on an equilateral spacing that balances tube diameter and useful surface to achieve optimal heat exchanger efficiency for this tube diameter. Fin enhancements such as flat top corrugation and GEA Heat Exchangers’ ‘turbulator’ ensure that a minimal amount of material is required to achieve a given capacity.
