HB Products launches HBLT-Wire, real plug & play sensor

Designed by HB Products, the new HBLT-Wire is an innovative sensor equipped with a flexible and adaptable wire to measure refrigerant levels in industrial refrigeration systems. The new sensor has an output signal of 4-20 mA, which is proportional to the 0 and 100% level in the tank.

The new HBLT-Wire can be adjusted in length from 300 to 4000 millimetres. The sensor consists of a 2 millimetres steel wire and a 4 millimetres Teflon tube, both of which can be shortened to the desired length. Both parts can be delivered with a length of 4 meters. Its split design makes the sensor easy to install and service, as the electronics can be separated from the mechanical part by loosening the threaded union.

Other product features

  • Can be delivered configured to refrigerant and length or can be configured on site by the installer (free of charge)
  • Plug and play: No dead zone elimination, no calibration
  • Alarm output can be set in a range from 10 to 100%
  • Possibility for direct regulation of modulating valves, pilot valves or step motor valves
  • Compact design that minimises shipment costs
  • Low installation height (155 mm)

Easy configuration of the sensor

The sensor can be configured with a simple PC tool, where the refrigerant can be set up together with the length of the sensor. Based on the desired set point, it is also possible to use the PC tool to configure an alarm output, as well as to choose whether the analogue output signal should be linear in respect to the level measurement, or if it should be the controlling signal of a modulating valve.

Proven reliability

The HBLT-Wire is a further development of the HBLT-A1, which has been installed in over 35 000 systems. Both HBLT-A1 and HBLT-Wire sensors are designed to withstand the extreme conditions characteristic of industrial refrigeration applications such as very low temperatures (-50° C) and corrosive environments due the use of ammonia (NH3).

Ready for marine applications

Based on its unique and innovative design, the new sensor can be installed in marine refrigeration systems, where traditionally a wire solution was not recommended, as the rough waters lead to repetitive and misleading movements of the wire. But since the HBLT’s wire is coated in Teflon, measurements are no longer affected by the contact of the sensor with the wall of the tank or with the metal surface of the overflow pipe.

About HB Products A/S

For over 30 years, the company has specialised in the development, manufacture, and sale of sensors for the refrigeration industry. HB sensors are found on refrigeration compressors, refrigeration tanks, and in cooling pipes, a particularly harsh environment where low temperatures, high pressure, and corrosive refrigerants put high demands on sensor design. The company sells products globally to large and small players in the industrial refrigeration market.
