Case study criteria

Case studies should be centered on completed or ongoing projects, best practice and lessons learned in the field of natural refrigerants, specifically concerning Asia. The study should be a practical summary of an improved practice, rather than a formal research paper. Ideally, it should provide and analyse real life results relating to the energy and cost efficiency, as well as the reliability of an HVAC&R technology using one or more natural refrigerants.

*The most important criterion is that the technology is either already applied in Asia or has a clear potential to be used in that region.


Fields of application:

• Commercial & light commercial refrigeration
• Industrial refrigeration
• Heat pumps
• Transport
• New areas of application

Special attention will be given to:

• Type of refrigerant (CO₂, ammonia, hydrocarbons, air, water)
• Cost-efficiency of the entire life cycle
• Geographic focus (Asia)

Abstract criteria:

All abstracts must satisfy the following criteria:

• Sustainable: concentrate on the potential of natural refrigerant technology
• Replicable: provide best practices and lessons learned that can be applied to similar projects, also in developing countries
• Original: present technology innovations, research results that have not been shown elsewhere, new fields of application, etc.
• Tangible: include examples of real life installations and demonstration projects, laboratory testing with tangible results, etc.

Abstracts should include the following elements:

• Efficiency analysis: analysis of how the refrigerant influences the Coefficient of Performance (COP), comparison of different systems or parameters, etc.
• Cost analysis: energy costs, operational costs, planning and installation costs, life-cycle costs

Content and formatting guidelines

Case study submissions should include:

• Author’s full name, organisation and email address
• Case study title
• Abstract
• Keywords
• Relevance to the Asian market

Presentation time

Each technology case study presentation will be allotted 10-12 minutes for the presentation + 3 minutes for Q&A.

Speaker discount

Case study presenters are entitled to a special 50% discounted speaker rate for ATMOsphere Asia 2014.

Case studies can be submitted via email to asia@ATMO.org. Please indicate “ATMO Asia” in the subject line and in the case study itself.
