The free website contains a variety of resources aiming to help companies achieve net-zero goals coming out of COP26.

Scottish OEM Star Refrigeration has launched the COP26 Cooling & Heating Hub, a website with free resources aiming to help HVAC&R businesses reach the net-zero goals to be set at the COP26 climate summit, currently taking place in Glasgow, Scotland.

The COP26 Cooling & Heating Hub can be accessed here.

The resources include a calendar of key cooling- and heating-relevant events during COP26, articles from experts on sustainable engineering and bespoke advice on how to reduce energy consumption in refrigeration systems (part of the company’s Specific Energy Consumption app). There is also a personalized quiz, the Smart Road to Net Zero, where visitors have a chance to win a £50 (US$68) voucher.

The overarching goal of the hub is to help companies “identify where to focus their efforts in the next three decades to meet the 2050 net-zero targets, whether it is through equipment selection, system design, control software, aftercare or a combination of each,” Star Refrigeration said in a statement on its website.

COP26, taking place from October 31 to November 12, has been hailed as the most important climate- related gathering since world leaders met in 2015 to adopt the Paris Agreement, and “decisions made at COP26 are likely to affect all businesses in all industries,” Star Refrigeration said.

“We have spent over 50 years delivering sustainable cooling and heating solutions, and it is evident that now is the ideal time to share our expertise,” said Dr. Rob Lamb, Group Sales and Marketing Director of Star Refrigeration. “Reaching net-zero emissions as fast as possible is absolutely critical, so we want to help businesses understand the actions they need to take to meet climate targets.”

Star Refrigeration representatives will be present at a number of COP26 side events. One of these is an event on November 11 at the COP26 Green Zone, organized in collaboration with the West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, Council.

This event will showcase a 5.2MW (1,478.6TR) heat pump project for a district heating network in Clydesbank, west of Glasgow, for which Star Refrigeration delivered the two ammonia heat pumps. The project was recently awarded the City of the Year prize at the 2021 European Heat Pump Association awards.
